KINGSPORT, Tenn. - Fifth-seeded Union College posted a 1-0 shutout against Covenant  College to advance to the 2009 Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament championship round, but the Lady Bulldogs fell 10-0 to UVA-Wise in the title game.

UVA-Wise will advance to the NAIA national tournament.

UVA-Wise defeated Covenant College 3-1 in Thursday's winner's bracket finals and will play at 1 PM today the winner of the Union College and Covenant game at 11 AM.

Box scores have been posted for the games played on Thursday in the AAC softball tournament.

Covenant continued winning by defeating the fourth seed Virginia Intermont 8-1 on Thursday to move to the winner's bracket finals today at 3 pm.

UVA-Wise, the only remaining top seed defeated seventh seed King 3-2 to advance to play Covenant.


Box scores have been posted for the games played on Wednesday in the AAC softball tournament.

Second day of play
Eight seed Covenant College upsets number one seed Milligan College 1-0.

Covenant started play by defeating nine seed Bluefield College 5-1.

Only three seed UVA-Wise escaped the upset bug as they defeated Tennessee Wesleyan 1-0.

The first game today will begin at 11 AM  with Bluefield playing Union.
