EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - A school-record run was not enough for Johnnie Nabors in the 2009 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field 100-meter dash finals Friday at the University of Southern Illinois Edwardsville. However, his run was good enough to earn All-American honors.
Nabors, a senior from Lawrenceville, Ga., posted a time of 10.54 seconds in the finals to finish third and to gain All-American status. This is the second straight year he was an All-American in the event. Last season he established the school record of 10.55 seconds to finish fifth.
The champion was Tyrell Cuffy from fellow Appalachian Athletic Conference squad King (Tenn.) College as he defended his title by running 10.41 seconds. King also had the second-place finisher in Kemar Hyman at 10.52.
