Bryan College Athletics is proud to announce the hiring of Rocky Stinson as their Head Softball Coach. Stinson will spend the next year preparing and recruiting for the 2010-2011 opening season.
Coach Stinson comes to us from Mid-Continent University, where he has been the Head Softball Coach there for the past 3 years. Mid-Continent, like Bryan, is a member of both the NAIA and the NCCAA, giving Stinson the necessary experience to prepare Bryan for that level of competition. He also currently serves as the softball Vice-Chair for the NCCAA.
"Bryan College is a great college to have the opportunity to build a program from scratch. I knew once on campus and upon meeting the people here that this was somewhere I wanted to be, and a college I wanted my name and future Bryan softball players to represent in the community and conference. I look forward to working under Dr. Zensen and along side the other coaches at Bryan, and truthfully foresee great success for the program athletically, academically, and primarily spiritually," said Stinson.
"We are quite fortunate to have Coach Stinson here at Bryan to head up our women's softball team. He brings a wealth of experience, high energy, and a sincere commitment to the mission of Bryan College," commented Bryan Athletic Director Sandy Zensen, "We are expecting Rocky to build a quality program that honors God and competes at the highest levels of the AAC and the NAIA."
Stinson is currently working on his Masters of Science in Human Development and Leadership from Murray State and plans on completing it this summer. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology & Counseling and Social Studies from Mid-Continent in May of 2003. While there, he was named an NAIA Academic All-American for baseball and graduated cum laude (3.54 gpa). Stinson graduated from Hickman High School in Centerville, TN in 1998.
During his time as a student at Mid-Continent, Stinson played 4 years of baseball. He was a third baseman, and was in the starting pitching rotation his senior year. During his junior and senior year he was a team captain. Stinson was also named NCCAA Mid-East Regional Team Honorable Mention.
Rocky and his wife, Jessica, currently reside in Murray, KY, but will soon be making the move to Dayton.
