Appalachian Athletic Conference


	The mission of the Conference is to promote the education and development of students and to provide athletic competition among its member institutions for the purpose of designating champions in sponsored sports, to increase visibility of its members to their publics, and to promote the highest ethical standards of character, conduct, sportsmanship, and fair play.

	UVA-Wise comes in second at Region XII Softball! Posted by Will Stern - Tue, May 6, 2008 - [Softball] - Viewed 443 times New Albany, Ind. –IU Southeast becomes the Region XII Representative to the NAIA National Tournament in Decatur, Alabama. UVA-Wise made IU Southeast earn the automatic bid by winning the first game 5-1. A four run inning capped by a 3 run shot led UVA-Wise to their win and force an if necessary game. In the final, UVA-Wise exploded with a five run second inning. IU Southeast would work their way back to into the game and would overtake UVA-Wise 8-6 in the 4th. A two run shot by Virginia Wise in the top half of the seventh to even the game at eight. With a runner on second, a ball driven into right field scored the Region winning run for IU-Southeast. Union won the first game 8-4 behind another strong performance from junior pitcher Marty Popham. Union begins play at 9 am against Georgetown, KY. The entire schedule is now posted. The tournament, scheduled for May 12-16, will take place at the Mobile Tennis Center.
