(706) 419-1515                    dsimons@covenant.edu

Coach Simons is in his third year at Covenant College, having come on staff in 2005 to begin to build and re-start the intercollegiate baseball program. The new Scots baseball team completed their first official intercollegiate season last Spring, after competing for one year as an intercollegiate club JV team. Simons is a former major league pitcher that played ten years of professional baseball, including the 1991 big league campaign with the New York Mets and the 1992 season with the Montreal Expos. After his playing days ended in 1997, he spent four years as a pitching coach in the Mets organization, and then four years as a scout in the Texas Rangers organization, before leaving pro ball for Covenant. Simons also enjoyed a fine intercollegiate playing career himself, at Pepperdine University in his native California. He and his wife Julie have been married 18 years, and have four children, two sons, Brian who is 17 and KC who is 15, and two daughters, Kirsten who is 13 and Paige who is 9.
