TWU's Mayfield Selected as the 2021-22 Athletic Director of the Year
ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Donny Mayfield of Tennessee Wesleyan is the 2021-22 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Athletic Director of the Year, the league announced Thursday.
The award was voted and selected by the athletic directors of the AAC.
During the 2021-22 academic year, Mayfield held several leadership roles within the AAC and the NAIA. He serves on the NAIA National Administrative Council (NAC) Executive Committee and is the chair of the NAC Rules, Awards, and Statistics Committee. Mayfield is the AAC Coordinator of Officials, oversaw the AAC Men's and Women's Tennis Tournaments, and was the AAC basketball scheduler for 2021-22. He also is a member of the NAIA Eligibility Center Advisory Group.
Under Mayfield's leadership, Tennessee Wesleyan enjoyed great success in the field of play. The Bulldogs collected a total of six AAC championships and had six teams advance to NAIA postseason play with baseball and softball both making it to their respective NAIA World Series. Tennessee Wesleyan had several individuals qualify for NAIA championship play in the sports of men's golf, men's cross country, women's cross country, men's indoor track & field, women's indoor track & field, men's outdoor track & field, and women's outdoor track & field.
This is the fifth time Mayfield has received this award.
