Montreat Men's Cross Country Named AAC Men's Team of Character
WALESKA, Ga. - The Montreat men's cross country team is the 2024-25 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Men's Teams of Character, the league announced on Tuesday.
The award was voted on and selected by the athletic directors of the AAC.
The Montreat College Men's Cross Country team dealt with a catastrophic weather event in the middle of its 2024 season. Not only did the Cavaliers come back from that to place second at the AAC meet and 21st at the national meet, but they were also involved on campus and in the community by helping with the recovery efforts.
The team did numerous service projects, including working with Bounty & Soul, a non-profit organization that "nourishes families, supports local farms and provides vital health and wellness resources." The squad also helped pick up trash and remove debris in Black Mountain as part of the hurricane recovery efforts. The Cavs also helped host one middle school and two high school track & field meets.
Academically, the team took care of business in the classroom, notching five Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete awards and 11 AAC All-Academic Team honors.
