Montreat's Stamey Named Colonel John Sullivan Male Student Athlete of Character
WALESKA, Ga. - The Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) is pleased to announce Ethan Stamey of Montreat as the 2024-25 Colonel John Sullivan Male Student Athletes of Character on Wednesday.
The award was voted on and selected by the athletic directors of the AAC.
In addition to being an All-American in cross country, indoor track & field, and outdoor track & field in 2024-25, Stamey excelled in the classroom. The business administration member achieved Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete and AAC All-Academic Team status.
Stamey also interned for the Asheville Dream Center, a non-profit organization that serves as an outreach arm for churches and businesses to get involved in local missions. Stamey was a leader who was always quick to encourage and celebrate others well before acknowledging his own national milestones and school records. In late April, he was named Montreat College's 2024-25 Male Athlete of the Year.
The award is named after Colonel John Sullivan, who served as the conference's president and then as its first commissioner from the league's formation in 2001 until his retirement in 2022.
