MONTGOMERY, Ala. - A late rally dashed No. 4 seed Reinhardt's hopes of pulling off the upset as top-seeded Ottawa (Kan.) pulled out the 5-4 victory in the NAIA Baseball National Championship Opening Round - Montgomery Bracket on Monday.
After falling behing early, Reinhardt scored twice in the third and added another run in the fifth for a 3-2 advantage. However, Ottawa came through with three runs in the bottom of the eighth for a 5-3 advantage.
The Eagles tried to mount a comeback but scored only one run in the ninth in falling 5-4.
Tucker Zdunich went 1-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Reinhardt now faces No. 3 seed Keiser in an elimination game on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
