Week 1: AAC Baseball Players of the Week

WALESKA, Ga. - Blake Peyton of Tennessee Wesleyan and Jaider Morelos of Montreat are the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Baseball Pitcher and Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

This is the first edition of the weekly honors for the 2023 season. The next set of awards will be announced on Feb. 27.

AAC Pitcher of the Week

Blake Peyton - Tennessee Wesleyan - Freshman - San Diego, Calif.

• Allowed 1 run on 1 hit and 1 walk in a 3-1 win over Truett McConnell.
• Struck out 11 in six innings of work.
• This is his first weekly honor this season.

AAC Player of the Week

Jaider Morelos - Montreat - Freshman - Cartagena, Colombia

• Batted .471 in helping Montreat go 2-3 on the week.
• Had 3 home runs, 9 RBI, and 5 runs scored.
• Had 1 double and posted a 1.059 slugging percentage.
• This is his first weekly award this season.
