Week 4: AAC Baseball Players of the Week
WALESKA, Ga. - Jimmy Gamboa of Milligan and Angel Mendoza of Union are the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Baseball Pitcher and Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
This is the fourth edition of the weekly honors for the 2023 season. The next set of awards will be announced on March 20.
AAC Pitcher of the Week
Jimmy Gamboa - Milligan - Graduate Student - Las Vegas, Nev.
- Tossed a complete-game, 6-hitter in a 3-1 win over Montreat.
- Struck out 11 and walked 1.
- Allowed 1 earned run on 6 hits and 1 walk.
- This is his first weekly honor this season.
AAC Player of the Week
Angel Mendoza - Union - Senior - Corona, Calif.
- Batted .529 in helping Union to a 4-1 record on the week.
- Belted 5 home runs and posted a 1.412 slugging percentage.
- Drove in 8 runs and scored 8 times as well.
- Homered in the first inning of 3 consecutive games and hit a home run in 4 consecutive games.
- This is his first weekly award this season.
