TWU Captures WinWon Baseball Tournament Championship
KINGSPORT, Tenn. - No. 2 seed Tennessee Wesleyan made it all the way through the 2025 WinWon Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Baseball Tournament unscathed, going 4-0 and winning the championship game 4-2 over top-seeded Reinhardt on Saturday.
The five-day event was held at Hunter Wright Stadium in Kingsport, Tenn.
WinWon is the title sponsor for the event.
Reinhardt advanced to the championship game thanks to a walk-off, 6-5 win against No. 4 seed Milligan earlier in the day. The Eagles fell behind 5-2 in the top of the sixth, but Jacob Mantooth's RBI single in the bottom of the ninth completed the comeback and sent Reinhardt to the title game.
In the championship game, Corbin Shaw blasted a two-run home run over the left-field wall to give Tennessee Wesleyan a 2-0 lead in the fourth. Reinhardt cut the deficit in half in the top of the sixth thanks to a Louis Dion run-scoring double. Kruise Newman upped the margin to 4-1 in the bottom of the sixth when two runs scored on his infield single to second.
In the eighth, Ryan Stephens launched a solo home run to left to pull Reinhardt within 4-2. Reinhardt tried to mount a comeback in the ninth as Barry Eiseman reached on a two-out single. However, a flyout to center ended the game and sealed the tournament crown for Tennessee Wesleyan.
Daniel Batcher collected the win, going 7 2/3 innings and allowing two earned runs on three hits and one walk with six strikeouts. Christian Delashmit surrendered one hit and struck out one in 1 1/3 innings of work to earn the save.
Shaw earned Tournament MVP honors after scoring seven runs and collecting seven RBI this week. Joining him on the All-Tournament Team are Blake Peyton, Kolton Reynolds, Daniel Stewart, and Brian Espinoza of Tennessee Wesleyan; Andrew Herbert and Eiseman of Reinhardt; Cade Kalehuawehe and Braxton Baird of Milligan; Jacob Almon of Bryan; Eric Doyon of Columbia International; and Cade Liefer of Johnson.
By virtue of advancing to the championship game, Tennessee Wesleyan and Reinhardt each receive an automatic berth to the NAIA Baseball National Championship. The NAIA Baseball Selection Show is set for Wednesday at 5 p.m. ET.
