WALESKA, Ga. - Executive Director of Athletics Jonathan Burton announced on Tuesday the hiring of Brett Lindsey as the fourth head coach in Reinhardt Baseball history. Lindsey spent last year as the head assistant coach under Burton, where the two took the team to the NAIA Opening Round. Lindsey was the hitting instructor and third base coach for the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) regular season champions. It was the second consecutive year that the Eagles won the regular season title.
Before coming to Reinhardt, Lindsey. was an assistant at the University of South Alabama (2019), Broward College (2020), Indiana University Southeast (2021-23), and Georgia Gwinnett (2024). In addition to his time as a collegiate assistant coach, he has also spent several years coaching independent leagues, including the Northwoods League and the Ohio Valley League (2018-2022).
Lindsey is a native of New Albany, Indiana, and he holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Midland University in Nebraska, where he double majored in Business Marketing and Criminal Justice. He has two Master's Degrees from Alabama A&M University and the University of South Alabama.
Burton had this to say about Lindsey taking over the Eagles Baseball program, " I am very excited to have Brett join our university as our next Head Baseball coach. In my time with Brett, it was obvious to me that he has the mannerisms, organizational skills, recruiting drive, and capabilities to be a successful head coach. He simply needed a chance, and I am excited to give him that opportunity. Brett is inheriting a program that is near and dear to my heart, and I am fully convinced that he can continue to build on the success of this program in the present and in the future. We are glad he is here, and I look forward to supporting him in a way that allows him to be very successful."
Lindsey added this about his first opportunity as a collegiate head coach, "I want to first thank President Roberts and Athletic Director Jonathan Burton for the opportunity to lead this incredible program. Coach Burton elevated Reinhardt Baseball to new heights, and I am honored to continue building on that legacy. My goal is to uphold the integrity and culture that have defined this program, while relentlessly pursuing new levels of excellence for our student-athletes and the university."
Although this will be his first head coaching position, Lindsey has many years of experience coaching top-level programs at both the NAIA and NCAA levels. This experience should keep Eagles Baseball very competitive in the AAC and NAIA Top 25 rankings, where the Eagles have enjoyed the past few seasons. He will be taking over a program that is in good shape and among the top teams in the NAIA.
Brett Lindsey and his wife, Megan, have one daughter, Scottie, who resides in Canton, Georgia. Congratulations, Brett, and we look forward to seeing you put your stamp on the Reinhardt Baseball program.
