2017-18 All-AAC Men's Basketball Awards Announced
KINGSPORT, Tenn. – The Appalachian Athletic Conference announced the 2017-18 All-AAC Men's Basketball Team and Awards, and Brandon Moore of Allen is the Player of the Year.
The All-AAC Team and Awards were announced at the 2018 AAC Men's and Women's Basketball Tournaments on Wednesday, and the honors were selected by the coaches.
Other individual honorees include: Christian Davis of Truett McConnell as the Defensive Player of the Year; E.J. Bush of Bryan as the Freshman of the Year; and Kevin Burton of Union as the Coach of the Year.
Moore leads the AAC in scoring with 21.4 points per game and leads all of NAIA Division II in field-goal percentage as he made 70.5 percent of his shots. Twice named the AAC Player of the Week, Moore averaged 7.7 rebounds per game and amassed 22 blocks, 20 assists, and 13 steals.
Davis leads the nation in steals (82) and steals per game (2.733). He is also deadly on offense with 96 3-pointers made, ranking him fourth in NAIA Division II. He is second on Truett McConnell in scoring with 14.6 points per game.
Bush led Bryan in rebounding at 7.07 per game to go along with his 14.0 points per outing. He also leads the conference in blocks, averaging 1.43 per game with 43 in 29 games.
Moore and Davis are joined on the All-AAC First Team with K.J. Duronslet of Union, Oteriah Lee of Bryan, Aaron Levarity of Milligan, Melvin Irvin of Reinhardt, Lance Blakely of Union, Dwight Sanders of Reinhardt, Alonzo Mobley of Montreat, and Jeron Hemphill of Montreat.
Bush earned a spot on the All-AAC Second Team and is joined by Jorge Concepcion of Bluefield, Dominique Lindsey of Union, Daxton Bostian of Milligan, Jalen Oliver of Tennessee Wesleyan, Tyonn Stuckey of Point, David Casaday of Milligan, Kenny Dean of Tennessee Wesleyan, Jeremiah Jenkins of Bluefield, and Ty'quon Reid of Bluefield.
Making the All-Defensive Team are Davis, Levarity, Blakely, Lindsey, Bush, and Hemphill.
Joining Bush on the All-Freshmen Team are Stuckey, Jenkins, Myles Monroe of Truett McConnell, Vernon Jackson of Allen, Kennth Role of Allen, and Michael Mays of Reinhardt.
Making the Champions of Character Team are Nyquan Cousins of Bluefield, Sean Doman of Montreat, Jordan Hall of Tennessee Wesleyan, Eddie Hurst of Truett McConnell, Reagan Johnson of Bryan, Logan Parvis of Allen, Will Robinson of Milligan, T.A. Sullivan of Reinhardt, Ben Twigger of St. Andrews, Chris Tyler of Point, and Jakobe Wharton of Union.
Thirty-eight student-athletes earned a spot on the All-Academic Team.
