2018-19 All-AAC Men's Basketball Awards Announced
KINGSPORT, Tenn. – The Appalachia Athletic Conference (AAC) announced the 2018-19 All-AAC Men's Basketball Team and Awards on Wednesday, and Aaron Levarity of Milligan is the Player of the Year.
The All-AAC Team and Awards were announced at the 2018 AAC Men's and Women's Basketball Tournaments on Wednesday, and the honors were voted upon by the coaches.
Other individual honorees include DeMarkus Loman of Union as the Defensive Player of the Year, Ty Patterson of Tennessee Wesleyan as the Freshman of the Year, and Kevin Burton of Union as the Coach of the Year. Union was also recognized as the regular-season champion.
Levarity is third in the AAC in scoring (19.39 PPG) and is tops in rebounding (12.57 RPG). The senior forward led the conference in double-doubles as well, recording 21. In addition, Levarity has amassed 53 assists, 41 blocks, and 21 steals this season.
Loman is fourth in the league in scoring (17.48 PPG) and 14th in rebounding (6.67 RPG). He boasts 50 assists, 40 steals, and 20 blocks.
Patterson ended the regular-season 10th in the league in scoring (15.62 PPG) and sixth in rebounding (8.58 RPG). He shot 45.5 percent (150-of-330) from the field and had 30 assists and 23 steals.
Joining Levarity and Loman on the All-AAC First Team are Samuel Bunkley or Reinhardt, EJ Bush of Bryan, Austin Butler of Montreat, Christian Davis of Truett McConnell, K.J. Duronslet of Union, Vernon Jackson of Allen, and Warren Vinson of St. Andrews.
Patterson landed on the second team and is joined by Corey Benton of Columbia International, Lance Blakley of Union, Taboris Griggs of Point, Jeremiah Jenkins of Bluefield, Alonzo Mobley of Montreat, Tyler Nichols of Milligan, Arthur Pearson of Columbia International, Ty'quon Reid of Bluefield, and Latroy Strong of Reinhardt.
Making the All-Defensive Team along with Loman are Bush, Davis, Jackson, and Mike Fetherston of Milligan.
Patterson is joined on the All-Freshmen Team by Jamaan Bailey of St. Andrews, Brandon Doss of Columbia International, Enonka Franky of Truett McConnell, Eric Graham of Columbia International, and Brandon Thomas of Bryan.
Making the Champions of Character Team are Jordan Bates of Point, Deion Butler of Union, Tyrone Dantzler Jr. of Columbia International, Austin Douglas of Bryan, Olatunji Ebifemi of Bluefield, Elijah Fabyan of Allen, Christian Lathan of St. Andrews, Parker Morgan of Tennessee Wesleyan, Darrian Patterson of Montreat, Chase Phillips of Milligan, Stephen Stuart of Truett McConnell, and Dorea Wilson of Reinhardt.
Twenty-nine student-athletes earned a spot on the All-Academic Team.
