2022 Men's Basketball All-Conference Team and Awards Announced

KINGSPORT, Tenn. - The 2022 All-Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Men's Basketball Team and awards are out, and Markelle Turner is the Player of the Year.

The awards are voted on and selected by the men's basketball coaches of the AAC.

The other individual award winners include Andre Silva of Union as the Defensive Player of the Year, Terrin Hamilton of Union as the Freshman of the Year, Tyler Rodrigue of Montreat as the Newcomer of the Year, and Kevin Burton of Union as the Coach of the Year.

Union captured the AAC regular-season championship with a 20-4 league record.

This marks the second year in a row Turner has earned Player of the Year honors. He ranks fifth in the league in scoring at 21.4 points per game and is second in total assists (143) and assists per game (5.1). The sophomore also averages 4.4 rebounds per game and has 27 steals to his credit.
