SCAD's Hickman Scores NAIA Offensive Player of the Week Honors
(Story provided by NAIA Athletic Communications)
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Mason Hickman of SCAD Savannah (Ga.) was ready to rock and roll last week in two big games. Hickman was locked in so much that one of their wins included an upset over No. 4 for the first time in 2018, as he earns NAIA Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week Honors.
The senior from Stone Harbor, N.J., had his eyes locked on the net all week. In the narrow 13-12 victory over (RV) Tennessee Wesleyan, he put 77.8% of his shots on frame, netting four goals and assisting on one more. Just two days later, the attackman lit up the stats sheet once again against Reinhardt (Ga.). Hickman put away four more goals, assisted on one, and fired five of his eight total shots on frame.
Hickman's contributions to the week were big in all aspects, but most notably, the Bees were able to sting the No. 4 Eagles for the first time since 2018 and pick up the first win over a top-five team since 2019.
Hickman and Co. remain in the gauntlet of AAC action when they host (RV) Life (Ga.) on April 9, followed by a road trip to West Point, Ga., for a meeting with (RV) Point (Ga.) on April 11.
