2017 Men's Soccer All-Conference Awards Announced
ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) released the 2017 All-AAC Men's Soccer Team and Awards, and Joao Costa of Truett McConnell is the Player of the Year as selected by the coaches.
Other individual award winners include Charlie Clarke of Bryan as the Offensive Player of the Year, Stephen Ricketts of Bryan as the Defensive Player of the Year, Yuri Parisotto of Tennessee Wesleyan as the Freshman of the Year, and Joey Johnson of Reinhardt as the Coach of the Year.
Clarke also won the Golden Boot Award for scoring the most goals in conference play with 12 in nine games.
Reinhardt is the regular-season champion with an 8-0-1 league mark.
Costa posted 27 goals this season to go along with 10 assists. He leads the NAIA in total goals and total points (64) and is third in game-winning goals (6) and 15th in total assists (10).
Joining Costa, Clarke, and Ricketts on the All-AAC First Team are: Nick Croucher of Tennessee Wesleyan, Joao Delgado of Bluefield, Todd Fidler of Reinhardt, Dino Jones of Bryan, Kevin Roenpage of Bryan, Alex Smith of Union, Brad Spooner of Bryan, Joe Stacy of Bluefield, Ben Timms of Tennessee Wesleyan, Jason Ward of Bryan, and Torge Wiedenworth of Reinhardt.
Parisotto earned a spot on the All-AAC Second Team and is joined by: Steve Beilby of Union, Manu Escalera of St. Andrews, Leonardo Fagioli of Reinhardt, Evan Gaffney of Truett McConnell, Giovanni Giruado of Truett McConnell, Jack Hardacre of Reinhardt, Alex Horton of Bryan, Jordan Moreno of Truett McConnell, Kuda Nhiwatiwa of Tennessee Wesleyan, Victor Profit of Reinhardt, Jonathan Ricketts of Bryan, Julio Rico of St. Andrews, and Jordan Williams of Reinhardt.
Nine players earned a spot on the Champions of Character Team, and 50 landed on the All-Academic Team.
