Week 1: AAC Men's Soccer Players of the Week
WALESKA, Ga. - Michael Garrihy of Tennessee Wesleyan and Jakeem Amuda of Columbia are the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Men's Soccer Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
This is the first edition of the awards for the 2023 season. The next set of awards will be announced on Sept. 4.
AAC Defensive Player of the Week
Michael Garrihy - Tennessee Wesleyan - Senior - Lisdoonvarna, Ireland
- Made 1 save during a 0-0 tie against No. 9 William Carey (Miss.).
- This is his first weekly honor of the season.
AAC Offensive Player of the Week
Jakeem Amuda - Columbia - Junior - Clover, S.C.
- Tallied 6 goals in helping Columbia to a 2-0 week.
- Scored 3 goals in a 9-0 win over Benedict (S.C.).
- Added 3 goals in a 5-0 win over Tocca Falls (Ga.).
- Netted the game-winner in both matches.
- This is his first weekly honor of the season.
