Milligan Wins Second Consecutive Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championship
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Milligan won its second consecutive Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Men's Outdoor Track & Field championship, outpacing the field by 73 points.
The three-day event was held at Tipton Stadium in Johnson City, Tenn.
Milligan amassed 199 points, with second-place Reinhardt collecting 126 points. Montreat (123) was third, while Truett McConnell (115) and Tennessee Wesleyan (80) rounded out the top five. Making up the rest of the field are Columbia International (63), Columbia (54), Union (46), Pikeville (36), Bryan (32), and SCAD Atlanta (4).
This is Milligan's fourth overall championship, having also won in 2011, 2012, and 2024.
Bryn Woodall of Milligan was named the MVP of the meet as he won two events, setting meet records in both. He set the mark in the 1500 with a time of 3:47.98 on Friday. The previous mark of 3:49.62 had stood since 2005. On Saturday, Woodall bested the mark in the 5000 with a time of 14:39.44. He also placed second in the 800.
The other individual award winners include Elijah Goddard of Truett McConnell as the Track Athlete of the Year, Dylan Simms of Truett McConnell as the Field Athlete of the Year, Ryan Stade of Montreat as the Newcomer of the Year, Brayden Simpson of Milligan as the Freshman of the Year, and the Milligan coaching staff as the Staff of the Year.
Three men's records were set on Saturday. There were:
- 5000 – Bryn Woodall, Milligan (14:39.44)
- 800 – Luis Peralta, Milligan (1:50.78)
- Discus – Deandre Leith, Columbia International (50.78 meters)
The other individual champions were:
- 200 – Elijah Goddard, Truett McConnell (21.11)
- 3000 steeplechase – Alex Brittain, Milligan (9:46.18)
- 4x400 relay – Milligan (3:15.71)
- Triple jump – Elijah Seawright, Columbia International (14.72 meters)
- Discus – Dylan Simms, Truett McConnell (16.18 meters)
- Decathlon – Philip Lotivio, Milligan (5696 points)
