WALESKA, Ga. - David Barcan of Life is the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Volleyball Attacker of the Week, while Jeremy Ferreira of Life and Dakota Hotaling of St. Andrews are the Defender and Setter of the Week, respectively.

The league announced the awards on Monday.

This is the fifth edition of the awards for the 2024 season. The next set of awards will be announced on March 18.

AAC Attacker of the Week
Hazem Abdelghafar - St. Andrews - Junior - Cairo, Egypt

  • Helped St. Andrews to a 3-1 record.
  • Averaged 3.62 kills per set and posted a .301 hitting percentage.
  • Posted a high of 21 kills in a 3-2 win against Campbellsville (Ky.).
  • Recorded a double-double with 21 kills and 11 digs against Campbellsville.
  • Served up 2 aces on the week.
  • Had 47 kills, 23 digs, and 4 blocks.
  • This is his first weekly honor of the season.

AAC Defender of the Week
Kenton Bedford - St. Andrews - Senior - Midlothian, VA

  • Averaged 1.00 blocks per set in helping St. Andrews to a 3-1 record.
  • Posted 7 blocks against Campbellville.
  • Logged 7 blocks against Lee-McRae (N.C.)
  • Tallied 14 blocks and 4 digs.
  • Also had 18 kills.
  • This is his first weekly honor of the season.

AAC Setter of the Week
Dakota Hotaling - St. Andrews - Graduate Student - Center Moriches, N.Y.

  • Averaged 9.333 assists per game in helping St. Andrews to a 3-1 record on the week.
  • Posted 140 assists on the week.
  • Logged 53 assists in a 3-2 win over Campbellsville.
  • Had a double-double against Benedict with 36 assists and 13 digs
  • Had 23 digs, 9 kills, 4 aces, and 8 blocks on the week.
  • This is his second weekly honor of the season.
