Week 1: AAC Men's Volleyball Players of the Week
WALESKA, Ga. - Thoralf Schmelzer of Webber International is the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Volleyball Attacker of the Week, while Alex Sanchez of Reinhardt and Carlos Pinto of Life are the Defender and Setter of the Week, respectively.
The league announced the awards on Monday.
This is the first edition of the awards for the 2024 season. The next set of awards will be announced on Feb. 19.
AAC Attacker of the Week
Kaelen Ingram - St. Thomas - Graduate Student
- Helped St. Thomas to a 3-2 record.
- Averaged 3.85 kills per set and posted a .348 hitting percentage.
- Logged 24 kills in a 3-2 win over Governors State.
- Served up 4 aces on the week.
- Had 77 kills, 20 digs, and 6 blocks.
- This is his first weekly honor of the season.
AAC Defender of the Week
Alex Sanchez - Reinhardt - Senior
- Averaged 4.60 digs per set in helping Reinhardt to a 3-2 win over Cumberland (Tenn.).
- Logged 23 digs.
- Registered a serve-receive percentage of 1.000 with no errors in 25 receptions.
- Also had 3 assists and 1 ace.
- This is his first weekly honor of the season.
AAC Setter of the Week
Rafael Obrusnik - St. Thomas - Junior
- Averaged 9.79 assists per game, as St. Thomas went 3-2 on the week.
- Posted 186 assists on the week.
- Recorded a high 48 assists in a 3-2 win over Governors State.
- Had 28 digs, 3 kills, and 3 blocks on the week.
- This is his first weekly honor of the season.
