CIU Wins First-Ever Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championship
COLUMBIA, S.C. - Columbia International put on a dominating display in capturing the 2024 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Women's Outdoor Track & Field championship this weekend.
This is the Rams' first track & field championship - indoor or outdoor.
The three-day event was hosted by Columbia International in Columbia, S.C.
Columbia International tallied 191 points to claim the title, which is the most points by a winning team since Brenau posted 228 points in 2019. Montreat (139.5 points) edged Milligan (138.5) for second by one point, while Columbia (121) and Truett McConnell (89) rounded out the top five. Completing the rest of the field are Brenau (58), Tennessee Wesleyan (55), Reinhardt (32), SCAD Atlanta (19), Pikeville (13), Union (11), Bryan (7), and Kentucky Christian (4).
Emma Johnson of Columbia International had a record-setting meet in earning Meet MVP honors. Not only did she win four individual events, but Johnson set the meet record in all four. She won the 100 (11.60 seconds), 200 (24.09 seconds), 100 hurdles (14.03 seconds), and 400 hurdles (1:03.31). Johnson was also a member of the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams, both of which won. The 4x100 relay team set the meet record with a time of 45.88 seconds, while the 4x400 relay team missed tying the meet record by 0.01 of a second.
The other award winners were Mackenzie Pringle of Columbia as the Freshman of the Year, Ali Ray of Montreat as the Newcomer of the Year, Caitlin Dominy of Milligan as the Track Athlete of the Year, Dazanni Hinton of Columbia International as the Field Athlete of the Year. The Columbia International coaching staff was named the Staff of the Year.

- 400 - Kamryn Chambliss, Brenau - 58.60 seconds
- 10,000 - Dominy, Milligan - 37:11.64
- Triple Jump - Pringle, Columbia - 12.39 meters
- Heptathlon - Emma Barnes - 4489 points
