2011 Volleyball All-AAC Team Announced
KINGSPORT, Tenn. - The 2011 Volleyball All-Appalachian Athletic Conference Team was announced Wednesday with Kendra Fiddler of Milligan (Tenn.) earning Player of the Year honors and Chuck Amshoff of Union (Ky.) collecting the Coach of the Year award.
The announcement was made at the awards ceremony during the AAC Tournament, held at the MeadowView Resort & Conference Center in Kingsport, Tenn.
Fiddler leads the conference in hitting percentage at .306 and has 290 kills on the year. She also leads the league in blocks per set, averaging 1.1.
Amshoff, who is in his first year at Union, guided Union to the regular-season championship with a 14-2 conference mark.
Other individual award winners include Jacqui Anderson of Columbia (S.C.) earning Setter of the Year, Erica Allman of Columbia is the Libero of the Year, and Sydney Koon of Montreat (N.C.) is the Freshman of the Year.
Union and Montreat each placed three players on the All-AAC First Team, while Milligan and Columbia each had two make it as Virginia Intermont and Bryan had one on the squad.
Union, Milligan, Bryan and Montreat also placed a player on the Second Team with Reinhardt (Ga.) and Bluefield (Va.) each landing a player on the squad.
Virginia Intermont won the team Champions of Character award.
There are 41 players made the Academic All-Conference Team with Bryan leading the way with eight honorees. Milligan and Montreat each placed six on the team.
