2017 Volleyball All-Conference Awards Announced
KINGSPORT, Tenn. – The Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) announced the 2017 All-AAC Volleyball Team and Awards, and Anyla Kryeziu of Montreat is the Player of the Year as selected by the coaches.
The league made the formal announcement of the awards at the AAC Tournament banquet on Wednesday at the MeadowView Marriott Convention Center & Conference Resort in Kingsport, Tenn.
Erinn Marroquin of Reinhardt was named both the Setter of the Year and the Freshman of the Year, while Paulina Hileman of Union is the Libero of the Year. Brian Goodhind of Reinhardt is the Coach of the Year after leading the Lady Eagles to the regular-season championship.
Kryeziu boasts a 0.249 hitting percentage as she has 343 kills. A two-time AAC Attacker of the Week, the senior also boasts 64 digs and 48 total blocks on the year.
A two-time AAC Setter of the Week, Marroquin leads the conference in assists per set at 9.8. She has tallied 1,039 assists on the year to go along with 34 service aces, 86 kills, and 279 digs. Marroquin has 15 double-doubles this season.
Hileman leads the conference in digs with 761, which is 232 more than any other player in the league. Named the AAC Libero of the Week three times, Hileman ranks seventh in the NAIA in total digs and 11th in digs per set.
All three players landed on the All-AAC First Team. Joining them are: Rachel Andrews of Union, Kiah Cheatham of St. Andrews, Tessa Colden of Reinhardt, Rachel Croce of Reinhardt, Tatiana Dale of Point, Abby Graham of Montreat, Marissa Langford of Milligan, Camry McCroskey of Bluefield, Lexie Mocarski of Bluefield, Karlee Moss of Brenau, and Tessa Smith of St. Andrews.
Earning a spot on the All-AAC Second Team are: Hope Burnett of Bryan, Suheily Colon-Rodriguez of Point, Courtney Glover of Montreat, Ellen Johnson of Bluefield, Kendra Johnson of Montreat, and Alyssa Rupert of Milligan.
Making up the All-Freshman Team are: Marroquin, Moss, Julia Codispoti of Milligan, Rheagan Kean of Bryan, Karina Lozada of St. Andrews, and Sydney Ritten of Tennessee Wesleyan.
Twelve student-athletes were named to the Champions of Character Team and there are 67 members of the All-Academic Team.
