2018 Volleyball All-Conference Awards Announced
KINGSPORT, Tenn. - The 2018 All-Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Volleyball Team and Awards were announced Wednesday, and Tatiana Dale is the Player of the Year.
The awards were announced at the AAC Tournament banquet at the MeadowView Marriott Convention Center in Kingsport, Tenn. The All-AAC Team and Awards were voted on and selected by the coaches.
Other individual award winners include Carlee Baxter of Reinhardt as the Setter of the Year, Alyssa Rupert of Milligan as the Libero of the Year, Kaylah Sloop of St. Andrews as the Freshman of the Year, and Brian Goodhind of Reinhardt as the Coach of the Year. Reinhardt received the trophy for winning the AAC regular-season championship, having gone 19-0 in league play.
Dale is the top attacker in the conference with a league-leading .391 hitting percentage in conference matches, which is .073 higher than the player in second. The senior middle logged 207 kills with 42 errors in 422 total attacks in AAC contests. Dale also logged 65 total blocks in conference play.
Dale, Baxter, Rupert, and Sloop all earned a spot on the All-AAC First Team. Joining them are Emily Charbonneau of Reinhardt, Tessa Colden of Reinhardt, Marissa Davis of Union, Julie Dockery of Milligan, Julia Felix of Point, Kellee Geren of Milligan, Avery Hilliard of Tennessee Wesleyan, Karina Lozada of St. Andrews, Camry McCroskey of Bluefield, and Shayla Smith of Truett McConnell.
Earning a spot on the All-AAC Second Team are Rachel Ellis of Point, Elise Gregory of Milligan, CJ Hinson of Columbia International, Maddie Jergesen of Union, Katie Kendrick of Bluefield, and Sydney Ritten of Tennessee Wesleyan.
Sloop, Charbonneau, Davis, Ellis, Gregory, and Hinson all made the All-Freshmen Team as well.
Making the Champions of Character Team are Lozada, Rupert, Bruna Barrozo of Columbia International, Emma Boles of Point, Amanda Bowersox of Brenau, Angel Cornista of Reinhardt, Ila Elstein of Montreat, Hannah Lee of Truett McConnell, Tia Madden of Tennessee Wesleyan, Yazmeen Mitchell of Allen, Hannah Nash of Union, and Paige Randolph of Bryan.
Dozens of student-athletes made the grade to earn a spot on the All-Academic Team.
