2019 All-AAC Volleyball Team, Awards Announced
KINGSPORT, Tenn. - The 2019 All-Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Volleyball Team and awards were announced Wednesday, and Kellee Geren of Milligan is the Player of the Year.
In addition to the top honor, Geren was named the Setter of the Year, while Karina Lozada of St. Andrews is the Libero of the Year, Megan Lung of Columbia International is the Freshman of the Year, and Brian Goodhind of Reinhardt is the Coach of the Year. Reinhardt was recognized as the regular-season champion, and Point was honors as the runner-up. Reinhardt won the league with a 21-0 conference mark, while Point finished 19-2.
The all-conference team and awards were voted upon and selected by the league's coaches.
Geren posted 772 assists in conference play, averaging 10.43 assists per match. She also tallied 204 digs, 40 kills, and 15 service aces in league play. Lozada led the conference with 538 total digs in league play, and her 6.6 digs per set tied her for first. Lozada also had 82 assists and 12 aces. Lung hammered home 292 kills and owned a .218 hitting percentage in conference play. She added 53 digs, 17 blocks, and 10 aces.
Geren, Lozada, and Lung all made the all-conference first team. Joining them are Carlee Baxter of Reinhardt, Tessa Colden of Reinhardt, Julie Dockery of Milligan, Ila Elstein of Montreat, Julia Felix of Point, Shelby Glawson of Reinhardt, Charlotte Havrisik of Point, Avery Hilliard of Tennessee Wesleyan, Katie Kendrick of Bluefield, Abby Maxwell of Truett McConnell, and Allison Ruddick of Union.
Earning second-team recognition are Carley Gregory of Milligan, Kiahna Holmen of Kentucky Christian, Maddie Jergesen of Union, Rheagan Kean of Bryan, Marjorie Smith of Tennessee Wesleyan, and Johnquanek Spencer of Allen.
Landing on the All-Freshmen Team with Lung are Leslie Flores of Bluefield, Gigi Ford of Bryan, Katie James of Montreat, Madison Jennings of Union, and Courtney Pressley of Reinhardt.
Hilliard, Holman, and Lung also earned a spot on the Champions of Character Team. The other members are Allyson Brown of Montreat, Ashlyn Carlton of Reinhardt, Christian Doig of Bluefield, Haley Ellison of Union, Alyssa Gibson of Milligan, Hannah Lee of Truett McConnell, Kandon Luquer of St. Andrews, Hadley Perdue of Point, Paige Randolph of Bryan, and Kayleigh Reece of Brenau.
